Chehlum security: Cellular service suspended, pillion-riding banned

Summary Strict security measures have been taken on the occasion of Hazrat Imam Hussain's chehlum.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - The country braces for Majalis-e-Aza on the occasion of Hazrat Imam Hussain’s chehlum.

To ensure the security of the participants, the administration has banned the pillion-riding, along with closing down cell phone service.

The mourning procession will also be taken over all over the country. The main gathering in Karachi took place at Nishtar Park. The procession will also be taken out from the Nishtar park. Going through its traditional route, the procession will end at Hussainia Imambargah, Kharadar.

In Rawalpindi, the procession was taken out from Imambarhgah Wazaif Ali ShahBohar Bazar, which will end at Imambargah Qadeemi.

In Lahore, the main mourning procession was taken out from Inside Moochi Gate and will at Karbala Ghame Shahy. Faisalabad chehlum procession began from central Imambargah Sunnatpura.

In Multan the procession was taken from Gulgasht Colony which will end at Jalal Masjid, going therough Gardezi Market and Golbagh.

In Peshawar, the procession came out from Hussania Hall Cantt.

Around ten thousand army men have been deployed at sensitive places all over the country. The cell phone services will remain suspended in all the major cities.

Curfew will be imposed in Bannu, while there could be likelihood of curfew in Rawalpindi.

In Quetta, the procession was taken out from Alamdar Road. Reserve force of various security agencies would also remain on alert to meet any eventuality.
