Summary JUI-F chief says the government should explain how the military convoy was attacked in the region.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam - Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said the military action in North Waziristan was "against the tribal people" and claimed that 65 people killed in the action were innocent civilians.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, the JUI-F chief said the government should explain how the military convoy was attacked in the tribal region despite a curfew being in place.

Earlier, JUI-F MPA Maulana Atta-ur-Rehman announced to hold protest against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) led provincial government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on January 26.

The protest would be staged against the deteriorating law and order situation in the province under the government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf.

Atta-ur-Rehman said the party would stage sit-in outside Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on January 26, adding that all opposition parties will be invited to join the protest.

He said incidents of extortion, target killing and abduction for ransom were increased under the reign of PTI.

The PTI has failed to provide security to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, JUI-F leader added.

Atta-ur-Rehman also demanded the federal government to immediately halt operation in North Waziristan. He also asked to lift the curfew as an acute shortage of edible items was reported in the area.
