LAHORE (Dunya News) – Distribution of nomination papers for Punjab local government elections has started today (Friday).

Local government polls are scheduled to take place on January 30 in Punjab.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has fixed the security fees from Rs 2,000 to Rs 20,000 for the candidates while the total budget for campaigning will not exceed Rs 200,000.

The banner will be of 3x9 ft size while the hoarding will be of 3x5 ft that candidates can utilize during their election campaign, Punjab EC added.

The commission also stated that any candidate can face disqualification if he/she violated the code of conduct.

On the other hand, the Lahore High Court heard an appeal against delimitation of constituencies.

The appeal stated that DCO is carrying out delimitation process on the guidlines of Punjab government, which is an illegal and unconstitutional step.

Justice Farrukh Irfan termed the matter as ‘very important’ and suggested for formation of larger bench.

The file has been forwarded to Chief Justice of Lahore High Court.
