US halted shipments through Torkham due to security reasons: FO

Summary Pakistan has not changed its stance over drone attacks, the Foreign Office spokesman said.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Foreign Office spokesperson Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry on Thursday said the United States has suspended NATO supplies through Torkham border to protect lives of the drivers.

In a weekly briefing, the spokesperson remarked that Pakistan intends to facilitate withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan as it desires a smooth process in this regard.

To a question, he said that Pakistan has not changed its stance over drone attacks.

Pakistan has raised the issue of drone attacks at all international forums including the United Nations and Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz also raised the issue with US special envoy during his recent visit to Islamabad, he added.

The spokesperson said Pakistan intends to resolve all outstanding issues including Kashmir and Siachen with India through dialogue.

He expressed hope that India will not violate the Line of Control (LoC) again.
