Summary The petition had been filed by Riaz Hanif Rahi in the Islamabad High Court.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday rejected the petition challenging the constitution of a special court for the treason trial of former president, General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf.
The petition had been filed by Riaz Hanif Rahi in the IHC.
During the hearing, IHC Justice Noorul Huque Qureshi observed that the petitioner should have approached the proper forum, while the Registrar office recorded its objection that the petitioner was not the affected person and his right to challenge does not hold.
The three member special court which will hear the treason case of Musharraf is headed by Justice Faisal Arab of Sindh High Court while other members of the bench include Justice Yawar Ali of Lahore High Court and Justice Tahira Safdar of Balochistan High Court.
It is significant to recall that the federal government had requested the chief justice of Pakistan to constitute a three-member special court to hear the treason case against Musharraf.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had approved a panel of three judges for the establishment of a special court for the trial of Musharraf for high treason under article 6 of the Constitution.
Last week, the ministry of law issued a notification for the appointment of Akram Sheikh as prosecutor to represent the federal government in the case.
