Summary Tariq Malik was removed from NADRA chairman's post on Monday evening.
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Tariq Malik has challenge his removal from the post of former Chairman National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) in the Islamabad High Court on Tuesday, Dunya News reported.
The petition was submitted by Advocate Babar Sattar on the behalf of Tariq Malik.
Meanwhile, the court has accepted the plea and hearing will start today.
It is pertinent to mention here that the government removed Tariq Malik from chairman NADRA’s post and appointed brigadier (retd) Zahid as acting chairman.
The political uproar caused after revelation of 70% unverified votes in NA-256 and NA-258 constituencies was the main reason behind Tariq Malik’s removal.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) candidate Iqbal Muhammad Ali was declared successful in NA-256, whereas, Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Hakim Baloch was declared successful in NA-258 constituency of Karachi.
PTI leader Zubair Khan had requested the Election Tribunal to probe alleged rigging in the above mentioned constituencies.
After verification of voters’ thumb impressions, Nadra had concluded that magnetic was not used in the both constituencies. At least 400 requests are still pending regarding recounting of the votes.
Meanwhile, Tariq Malik was scheduled to give briefing to newly appointed Chief Election Commissioner today regarding the procedure.
