Neither govt nor Taliban show dissatisfaction over 'jirga': JUI-F

PESHAWAR (Web Desk) - Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazal (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazal has urged the government to form a strategy and create favorable atmosphere for talks with Taliban.

Talking to media after attending the first meeting of tribal jirga in Peshawar, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that the meeting has termed drone attacks as an effort to sabotage peace talks with the Taliban.

He further said that the jirga after consulting political leadership has chalked out a road map to hold peace talks.

Fazl also made it clear that neither government nor Taliban expressed disagreement on the decisions taken by the jirga.

“The missile attacks are devastating peace in FATA, so, the government should make effective arrangements to curb those,” added Maulana Fazal.

The JUI-F convened a tribal Jirga (elder s gathering) in Peshawar on Friday to ponder over the peace efforts in the region. The Jirga agreed to render support for the ongoing efforts of peace.

The jirga also urged the government to take practical steps for rehabilitation of affectees in tribal region, he said.

Maulana Fazal welcomed appointment of new army chief and expressed hope that General Raheel Sharif will support these ongoing efforts for peace.
