KARACHI (Dunya News) – The activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf held a protest march from Mazar-e-Qaed to Tibet Centre.
Leaders of both parties addressed to the participants of a sit-in held at Tibet Centre.
Addressing participants of the rally‚ Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Syed Munawwar Hasan said the drone strikes were attack on the sovereignty of Pakistan.
Munawar said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was playing politics over the issue of drone attacks. He said the rulers wanted to serve the US and Indian interests but the masses had reject this slavery
The JI chief said that the PML-N voters should also participate in protest against drone strikes.
PTI leader Arif Alvi Also addressed the participants of the sit-in against drone attacks and NATO Supply.
Earlier, PTI and JI workers staged sit-ins against drone strikes and NATO supply in different cities.
PTI workers reached Hayatabad toll plaza. The workers are checking the documents of trucks in order to stop NATO containers.
According to the statement issued, the PTI’s spokesman said that the party workers would stage sit-in from Sunday morning to block Nato containers in five districts including Peshawar’s Ring Road, Khairabad, Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu and Charsadda interchange.
The statement said that the party workers have been divided in three shifts of eight hours each.
On Saturday, thousands of demonstrators staged a protest against US drone strikes blocking a main road in Peshawar and threatened to continue their demonstration until the attacks ended, whereas the provincial secretary information of the PTI announced the party would block Nato supply routes.
The protest was led by PTI chief Imran Khan along with their allies in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial government.
