RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) - At least ten persons were killed and 16 others were injured when two groups clashed near Fawar Chowk in Raja Bazar here on Friday.
Some unidentified persons opened aerial firing that triggered stampede after which stone pelting and arson started.
Some unknown persons torched a cloth market and stopped Fire Brigade vehicles.
The mob also tortured media persons and policemen.
Army took control of Raja Bazar and Madina Market after the situation got out of control.
According to police, 10 riffles were also snatched from the officials who were on duty in the area. They added the bullets were fired from the snatched guns.
Police further said that fire engulfed more than 100 shops in cloth market while the operation was underway to control it.
Punjab Chief Minster Shahbaz Sharif has taken notice of the incident and summoned report from Commissioner and RPO Rawalpindi.
