Summary Majority of candidates is in confused state of mind over holding or not holding local bodies’ poll.
KARACHI/LAHORE (Dunya News) - Candidates are over conscious about submission of nomination papers to contest local bodies’ elections. Today is the last day for submission of papers while candidates are nervous as returning officers reached their officers with delay of more than half an hour.
Yesterday was the last day for submission of papers but authorities while keeping in view complicated situation extended the date for one day more, so that candidates may be able to submit their papers in accordance with rules and regulations.
In South Karachi, Deputy Commission called candidates to appear at 8 o clock but finding returning and assistant returning officers absent, tension of candidates enhanced. They complained about delay of returning officers upon which returning officers were of the view that it was a trifle matter. Candidates would be provided more time for submission of their nomination papers properly.
Last day, more than 5000 candidates from five districts of Karachi submitted their papers.
In the same way, there was a crowd of candidates who are ready to contest local bodies elections.
On the other hand, about 852 nomination papers have been accepted in Quetta while 140 were rejected by authorities.
Five candidates also moved their appeals over being rejected their nomination papers.
