LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Lahore High Court has ordered to hold local bodies elections in Punjab on party basis.
PTI and other political parties had challenged the decision of the Punjab government to hold non-party basis elections and delimitation process.
Coordinator of the court Raool Bukhsh Rais also gave his arguments against the non party basis local bodies elections.
In the order, the LHC stated that Local Government Act 2013 section 18 was against basic human rights.
According to the order, it is the provincial government’s authority to decide delimitations of local bodies.
PTI lauded the court decision and declared it as historic.
