Summary Sumaira Malik was elected as MNA from NA-69 constituency of Khushab district in 2008.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - The Supreme Court has declared Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Sumaira Malik as ineligible for holding a fake degree and ordered initiation of criminal proceedings against her.

A three-judge bench comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja, and Justice Gulzar Ahmed heard the case seeking disqualification of Sumaira Malik from people’s representation for possessing a fake B.A degree.

The court, while announcing verdict today (Monday), nullified the notification of success of Sumaira Malik from NA-69 (Khushab-I) in 2008 General Elections.

The apex court has also ordered to forward copies of verdict to Election Commission and other concerned departments.

It is worth mentioning here that Malik Umar Aslam Awan had challenged Sumaira Malik’s degree in the Supreme Court.
