ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - The Foreign Office spokesman in a statement issued Friday expressed sympathies with the bereaved family of the Pakistani young man who was shot dead in Australia.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed deep sorrow over the death of a 28-year old Pakistani Kamran Yousaf who was shot dead in Australia on Saturday.

The young man hailing from Jalalpur Jattan district Gujrat was shot dead in Western Sydney during a robbery at the fruit shop the deceased was working.

Pakistan High Commission in Canberra and its Consulate General in Sydney responded immediately to this tragedy and‚ in coordination with the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation and Pakistani Community in Sydney‚ ensured timely transportation of the dead body.

The Pakistani mission is in contact with the local authorities and will continue to pursue the matter to bring the killers to justice.

While appreciating the Government of Australia s early action in arresting the culprits and felicitating in dispatch of the body of late Kamran Yousaf‚ we urge that appropriate steps should be taken to ensure the security and safety of Pakistanis living and studying in Australia.
