LARKANA (Dunya Nerws) - At least six persons have died so far as they when they consumed toxic liquor on Wednesday.

According to reports, two others were shifted to hospital in a critical condition.

The illegal home-made liquor, known as Tharra in local jargon, contained methyl alcohol, which is intended for industrial use and is fatal when consumed in large quantities.

Case has not been registered so far, however Provincial Excise Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla has taken notice of the incident and sought report from Director Excise.

According to Chandka Medical Hospital sources, six persons who died after consumption of toxic liquor included Zahid Kalhoro of Waleed mohalla, Javed Masih of Masih Colony, Rizwan Masih, Farooq Masih, Amar Lal and Saeed Ahmad.

According to the sources, four liquor shops in Larkana were closed due to bribery dispute between the shop keepers.
Sources added the deaths occurred as the victims bought substandard liquor due to closure of registered shops.
