ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - An accountability court on Friday extended the judicial remand of Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Orga) ex-chairman Tauqeer Sadiq by further two weeks and directed National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to produce him on next hearing.
Sadiq is the prime accused in the Rs82 billion scam of issuing new CNG licences, increasing gas tariff and allowing relocation of the functional stations.
During the course of hearing on Friday, NAB Prosecutor apprised the court that 54 billion had been recovered from Sadiq while requested the accountability court to extend the judicial remand of Sadiq for further interrogation.
The court extended the remand while adjourned the hearing till October 10.
On June 19, 2013, former chairman Ogra had voluntarily surrendered himself in a one-page handwritten statement. The development came after an Abu Dhabi court ordered the deportation of Sadiq on June 3, with a 30-day period to file an appeal against the order.
