Summary Chief Justice of Pakistan administered the oath to him in Karachi.

KARACHI (Dunya News) - Justice Mushir Alam took oath as Judge Supreme Court of Pakistan at a ceremony in Karachi today.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry administered the oath.

Justice Mushir Alam‚ who was Chief Justice of Sindh High Court‚ was recently elevated as judge Supreme Court.

Earlier, the Parliamentary Committee on Appointment of Judges to Superior Courts unanimously okayed the nomination of Sindh High Court’s current chief justice, Justice Mushir Alam, as a judge of the Supreme Court.

The post of SHC chief justice would be handed over to Justice Maqbool Baqar, who was recently badly injured in a terrorist attack in Karachi, Sindh’s provincial capital.

The committee for judges’ appointment, headed by Raja Zafarul Haq, has also requested that six additional judges of the Lahore High Court be made permanent. These include Justices Abdul Sami Khan, Abdur Rahman, Shujat Ali Khan, Aisha A. Malik, Shahid Waheed and Ali Baqir Najfi.

The committee expressed satisfaction with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and Intelligence Bureau (IB) reports submitted on the judges’ assets.
