ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - All Parties Conference took at PM House today (Monday) in Islamabad to devise a comprehensive strategy to root out terrorism.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif urged the political leadership to join hands to overcome three major challenges being faced by the country including terrorism‚ economy and energy crisis.
Inaugurating the all parties conference on national security in Islamabad today (Monday)‚ he said the government will not do politics on these issues and hoped other parties will also rise above the politics to confront these issues.
He said we also have to devise a joint strategy to tackle these issues and should support each other to steer the country and nation out of these challenges. He said it is time that we should make a fresh beginning.
He said doing politics is right of each politician but we should have a national consensus on major issues. He said by overcoming terrorism‚ which has claimed lives of thousands of civilians and security personnel‚ will definitely lead us to the 21st century in real sense. He warned that Pakistan will suffer greatly if we remained divided on the issue of terrorism.
Nawaz Sharif said being political democratic government‚ his party fully respects and honors the mandate of other political parties in the provinces. He assured all provincial governments of full cooperation from the federal government to resolve their issues.
He said it is matter of satisfaction that all political stand jointly on the issue of law and order in Karachi hoping that political parties will come up to the expectations of the nation.
The prime minister expressed gratitude to the political leadership for attending the all parties conference and hoped that a national consensus will emerge as a result of this conference which will also increase confidence of the nation on democracy.
He assured the nation that the government with the help of all political forces will tackle all issues on war footing basis and hoped Pakistan will enter into a new era of development and propserity with joint efforts of political leadership.
Nawaz Sharif said peace is vital for not only economic revival of the country but also a peaceful transition through democratic way.
Later, Inter- Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Lt. Gen. Zaheeer-ul-Islam briefed the conference on the overall security situation and responded to questions from the participants.
The Army Chief General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani also attended the meeting.
