PPP to challenge non-party LB polls in Punjab

Summary Sardar Latif Khosa has been given the task to file petition against the decision.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The decision was taken in a high-level meeting of PPP, headed by President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday.

The meeting discussed the Punjab government’s decision to hold Local Bodies elections in Punjab on non-party basis.

The PPP leadership rejected the decision of the Punjab government and termed it against democracy and Charter of Democracy.

President Asif Ali Zardari approved the party’s decision to challenge the non-party LB polls in the court.

Former prime ministers Yusuf Raza Gilani and Raja Pervez Ashraf, former Punjab governor Latif Khosa, PPP leaders Jehangir Badar, Nazar Gondal, Raja Riaz and others attended the meeting.

Pakistan Tehreek-Insaf has also rejected the non-party Locla Bodies elections and staged protests against the decision of Punjab government.
