Summary ATC judge Habib-ur-Rehman rejected Pakistan Peoples Party's plea.
RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Tuesday rejected Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) request to become party in Benazir Bhutto murder case.
During case proceeding, PPP Secretary General Advocate Latif Khosa argued that Benazir Bhutto was chairperson of the party and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari took the charge after her assassination. Therefore, PPP should be allowed to become party in the case.
Justice Chaudhry Habib-ur-Rehman stated that law does not allow any political party to become party in a murder case and rejected the plea submitted by Pakistan Peoples Party.
Former prime minister of Pakistan and PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto was assassinated in Rawalpindi in December 2007 when terrorists opened fire at her vehicle followed by a bomb blast.
The government at the time had stated that banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan was involved in the murder of Benazir.
In previous hearing, Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Rawalpindi Judge Chaudhry Habibur Rehman indicted former president, General (retd) Pervez Musharraf and six others in the case.
Musharraf has denied the charges and promised to prove his innocence. He is currently being held at his farm house in a suburb of Islamabad.
