(Web Desk) - A child was killed and another got injured when a bomb exploded in the southwestern Pakistani city of Quetta on Friday.

The blast in the capital of Balochistan province took place in Kali Muslimabad of Akhtarabad area near the Western Bypass.

According to initial details, the children recovered a toy shaped bomb from the roadside waste. The device exploded when they tried to open it.

As a result, one child died on the spot while another minor identified as Bashir Ahmed was injured.

The injured child was shifted Bolan Medical Complex where his condition is said to be critical.

The police have cordoned off the blast site and started their initial investigation.

Balochistan, which borders Iran and Afghanistan, is rife with militancy and a regional insurgency waged by separatists demanding political autonomy and a greater share of profits from the region’s natural resources.
