Summary The President and PM discussed latest political scenario of the country during meeting on Thursday.
ISLAMABAD (Online) - Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari met here on Thursday evening at Aiwan-e-Sadr, during which both executives discussed the overall situation of the country.
The meeting was held in the sidelines of a dinner reception hosted by President Asif Zardari in honor of departing ambassadors of various countries, whence Mian Nawaz Sharif was greeted by PPP’s Senator Raza Rabbani and other leaders at the main Presidential gate of Aiwan-e-Sadr from where Prime Minister proceeded to the fourth floor Presidential office, whence President Asif Ali Zardari greeted him personally at the entrance.
The half hour plus meeting focused on latest political scenario of the country, during which President Zardari congratulated Mian Nawaz Sharif on success of PML-N’s newly-elect President, Mamnoon Hussain.
Nawaz Sharif in turn briefed the President about such issues as relief in load shedding, various policies of new government, and meeting of the defense committee.
Sources disclosed that both executives also discussed the issues of death sentence and clemency for prisoners while both also agreed that politics of reconciliation and harmony should continue and prosper.
According to sources, both agreed that rule of law shall be enforced, prevail at all costs and no one should, would be allowed to take law into one’s hands to play with lives and honor of people.
Nawaz also assured President that government had kept its doors to dialogue flung wide open, “but only for those who conformed to law and constitution, and certainly no quarter for anti-state rebels and terrorists.”
Afterwards Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif joined President Zardari and other major leaders of PPP including former Premiers Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani and Raja Pervez Ashraf, along with opposition leader Khurshid Ahmad Shah, in the dinner hosted for ambassadors.
