Chaman (Dunya News) The polling at two polling stations in NA 262 Chaman constituency was halted after two locally made bombs were recovered from both the polling stations.


According to the details polling at Haji Bakht and Mulah Shahsawar polling stations was halted in NA 262. The bombs weighed 3 and 20 kilos respectively, revealed the report. The security sources said that the terrorists have planted these bombs to sabotage the polling in Chaman.

The security forces shut down the polling stations immediately and began the investigations. The polling in the rest of the constituency was going alright till the filing of this report.Earlier, by-elections in 15 National Assembly and 26 provincial assemblies  seats began at 8 am.

By-elections are being held on forty-one seats of National and Provincial Assemblies across the country Thursday.

Seven thousand six hundred and six polling stations have been established for the by-elections. Of these‚ 3‚080 have been declared normal‚ 2‚686 sensitive and 1‚840 highly sensitive.

Troops will be deployed inside and outside highly sensitive polling stations.

Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has completed arrangements to conduct the polls in free and fair manner.

The election campaign ended last night and no candidate could hold election rally. However‚ they can visit door-to-door for canvassing.

Meanwhile‚ Pakistan Army troops have been mostly deployed in various constituencies where bye-elections are being held on Tuesday.

The commission has directed the Returning Officers to send unofficial results via fax immediately after the vote count and official results by using the computerized result management system.

On the other hand, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has also readied a security plan in connection with the by-elections with public holiday announced for August 22 in 33 districts.
