Pakistan summons Indian Deputy HC over LoC firing

Summary Indian forces opened fire in Shakma sector and killed a Pakistan army captain and hurt a soldier.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Foreign Office on Wednesday summoned Indian Deputy High Commissioner to record protest against continuous ceasefire violations by Indian border security forces (BSF) across the Line of Control (LoC) over past couple of days.

Pakistan called upon India to uphold ceasefire over LoC and reiterated its commitment to the Ceasefire Agreement of 2003, which it said should be respected in letter and spirit by both sides.

A captain of the Pakistan Army was martyred and a soldier wounded in the latest incident of Indian forces opening unprovoked firing at the LoC.

Indian forces opened unprovoked fire at Shakma sector near Skardu on Tuesday night as a result a captain of Pakistan Army was martyred and other severely injured. Pakistani forces responded to the firing and the exchange of fire continued for several hours.

Pakistan has also expressed serious concern over ceasefire violation which resulted in the loss of a civilian’s life in Rawalakot sector.
