KARACHI (Dunya News) - The Muttahida Qaumi Movement has postponed its election rallies scheduled for Sunday.
According to a statement issued by the party’s decision-making body, the rallies in Karachi and Mirpurkhas have been postponed till Monday.
Ameenul Haq, a Coordination Committee member of the MQM, said that time and venue of the rallies in both the cities would remain unchanged.
The party planned the rallies in connection with the by-polls to be held on August 22.
MQM Chief Altaf Hussain Saturday appealed his party workers to remain steadfast and courageous even if he is arrested by British police.
Speaking to party workers in Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas telephonically from London on Saturday, Altaf, who is facing police investigation in London regarding money laundering and other charges, urged his party workers to stay firm, saying he is innocent like he was ever.
He said the time has proved that all the cases and allegations against him were fabricated and false. He said the arrests, false cases and the captivities are a part of the struggle of his party.
Last month, London Metropolitan Police conducted a raid on Altaf Hussain’s residence in London in connection to the investigation of Imran Farooq murder case and recovered 0.4 Million pounds during the raid. Police seized the money because no satisfactory answer could be provided regarding source of money.
