LAHORE ( Dunya News) On the instructions of DIG Operatuions, a city police division consisting of 22 police stations conducted a grand operation.
Many people who refuse to disclose their identity were arrested, according to the sources. The ares where the grand operation was conducted include Shafiqabad, Pathan Colony, Ravi Road and Bund Road where a large number of people from various cities reside.
Earlier this month, a joint interrogation team consisting of officials from the police and Rangers carried out an operation at the Koth Lakhpat jail in Lahore.
The search operation was conducted because of the recent attack in the central jail in Dera Ismail Khan, in which almost 250 prisoners managed to escape.
Initial investigations had suggested that prisoners in the DI Khan jail possessed cell phones through which they had maintained contact with the terrorists.
According to officials, information of a terrorist attack on the jail had been received. Barracks of prisoners were searched in the operation.
Earlier on Saturday, security at the Hyderabad Central Jail, a site of frequent jail riots, was beefed.
On Sunday, the central jail in Karachi, where Rangers had carried out an eight-hour intensive search in late June, a security exercise was carried out.
