India releases 87,000 cusec water, flood alert issued in Rojhan

LAHORE (Dunya News) - India has released 87,000 cusec water into Sutlej, threatening many villages in Kasur.

 

The flood warning was also issued in Rojhan owing to flood in the Indus River. The water released by India will pass by Kasur in the next 24 hours. Many villages in Kasur are feared to be inundated and the villagers have asked to flee to safety by the authorities.

 

Flood waters have already destroyed crops on hundreds of acres around Kasur. The flood-victims are awaiting relief but there is nothing around except some banners and empty camps.

 

The victims direly need food and medicine, it was reported. In the DG Khan and Rajanpur, the spread of diseases was reported where people await relief in vain.

 

Meanwhile, an embankment was swept away in Rojhan at Miranpur. Flooding was also reported around the Narowal District.
