Incompetence of TDA officials causes loss of billions

Summary Trade ministry has decided to seek National Accountability Bureau's help to probe the matter.

 

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Government of Pakistan will have to pay Rs 3.36 billion in compensation for failing to fulfill agreement signed with a Saudi company.

 

Under the agreement, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) was bound to assist Saudi company in the construction of an expo centre in Jeddah, documents obtained by Dunya News revealed.

 

The Saudi company was responsible for construction and insurance of the expo centre, whereas, TDAP had to look into the matter related to staff appointment, salaries and decoration of the building. But TDAP failed to implement single clause of the contract.

 

No official of the TDAP followed the case when Saudi company contacted International Court of Arbitration over the issue. 

 

Later, the International Court of Arbitration and Sindh High Court announced the verdict against Government of Pakistan.

 

In this regard, Trade Ministry has requested the Ministry of Finance to release the compensation amount.
