Summary High profile prisoners including Sufi Muhammad and Shakeel Afridi have been detained in this jail.

 

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - Elite Force and army officials have been deployed at Peshawar Jail in the wake of security threats.


Dr Shakeel Afridi and several terrorists, including banned outfit Tehreek Nifaz Shariat-e-Muhammdi chief Sufi Muhammad, have been kept in the Peshawar Jail.


The security of the jail has been tightened due to threats from terrorists on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.


Security has also been beefed up in Punjab jails after the reports that terrorists could hit jails where suspects and alleged terrorists are kept.


Earlier, interior ministry in Islamabad issued terror warning and posted Rangers and military personnel at sensitive places, including the Benazir International Airport.
