ISLAMABAD (Online) - Special gatherings were held in Mosques (Masjids) where the faithful worshipped and prayed for forgiveness‚ salvation‚ and progress and prosperity of the country.

 

Special sermons and naat programmes were also held at mosques and homes to mark the night.

 

According to Islamic lunar calendar, the 15th night of Shabaan month is known as Lailatul Barat or Laylatun Nisfe-min-Shaban in the Arab world.

 

In India‚ Pakistan‚ Bangladesh‚ Iran and Afghanistan‚ it is known as Shab-e-Barat‚ which means the night of forgiveness or atonement.
