ISLAMABD (Dunya News) - Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said that government fully respects Supreme Court’s verdict in the GST case.
Winding up debate on new budget in the Senate today (Friday), Dar said that government is determined to take all decisions in the parliament.
He urged the parliament to make legislation to abolish 1931 Act.
Dar's remarks came after Supreme Court ordered the government to withdraw additional General Sales Tax (GST) imposed on the petroleum products and declared 1931 Tax Act as unconstitutional.
On the other hand, the Finance Minister announced to raise minimum wage of the workers up to 10‚000 rupees per month.
He said reducing fiscal deficit is a big challenge for the government but hoped it would succeed in achieving the goal.
He further said that there will be no additional tax imposed on salaried persons drawing 2.5 million rupees annually.
