Nawaz orders immediate steps to cut loadshedding despite odds

Summary Directs authorities to get rid of outdated machinery and inefficient officials.

 

LAHORE (Dunya News) – In his concluding address in the emergency meeting Monday over power crisis Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif ordered the authorities concerned to take immediate steps and devise a roadmap to reduce the loadshedding in the country.

 

He said outdated machinery should be replaced by news one, and inefficient officials should be removed.

 

The PM also ordered steps to check the theft of electricity.

 

Experts recommended this during an Energy Conference held here headed by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

 

Heads of distribution companies, officials of the ministry of water and power attended the meeting. The experts submitted their recommendations to the PM about the ongoing energy crisis in the country.

 

The meeting was briefed that that Rs 1 billion subsidy was needed for oil on daily basis to produce electricity.


The experts said that the only way for immediate relief was power production through coal. They suggested that imported coal would be more useful than local coal.

 

The participants also suggested that private sector experts should be relied upon to cope with the severe energy crisis.
