Summary NA Speaker denies media reports showing him as a major contractor of Pakistan Railways.
ISLAMABAD (Online): National Assembly speaker Sardar Ayyaz Sadiq has contradicted the media reports on having shown him as major contractor of railway saying the report is unfounded and baseless.
“A section of media unleashed campaign against me during the elections. Today a newspaper has published a report against him wherein he has been shown a major contractor of Pakistan Railways.
There is no substance in this report. The reporter who has authored this report at least should help me get 5 or 6 percent profit”, he said this while talking to media men at his chambers Tuesday.
“During my tenure as chairman standing committee on railway I referred high profile corruption cases of railway to NAB. I worked out 9 reports on this matter and by means of which 20 billion rupees were got recovered”, he held.
NA speaker stated he would give detailed briefing to railway minister if the latter sought guidance on rehabilitation of railway.
Sardar Ayyaz Sadiq maintained that he would run the house impartially and honestly.
He went on to say that he had good friendly relationship with Imran Khan since 1960. But I was not allowed to visit him on the day he met accident”, he added.
He stated that PML-N gave the slot of chief minister Balochistan to nationalist parties despite having majority in the province. This move was aimed at keeping these parties integrated into national mainstream to ensure stability of the system.
To a question he said he had resigned from all the offices of his party after taking oath of slot of speaker.
To another question he said he would ensure austerity norms are adhered to in NA secretariat and only green tea will be served to the guests.“ I will not get protocol of speaker, he announced.
