Summary IHC Chief Justice would take ultimate decision regarding hearing of appeal against Musharraf case.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of Islamabad High Court on Tuesday rescued himself from the bench hearing the appeal challenging the cancellation of Pervez Musharraf’s bail in the judges’ detention case on account of what he called a smear campaign against him on social networking websites.
When divisional bench comprising Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui and Justice Riaz Ahmad Khan started hearing of appeal filed against rejection of ex-military general Pervez Musharraf’s bail, justice Shoukat alienated himself from the bench.
While showing his reservation, he was of the view that some elements were launching a negative movement for his character assassination; therefore, he would not include the bench formed for hearing of appeal against bail rejection of Pervez Musharraf.
The bench has referred the issue regarding hearing of appeal to Chief Justice Islamabad High Court who would take ultimate decision in this regard.
