Summary Asks Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Foreign Office to take up issue with the Saudi government.

 

PESHAWAR (Online) - Chairman of the Qaumi Watan Party Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has expressed serious concern over Saudi authorities’ crackdown on Pakistanis working in the kingdom.


In a statement issued here on Thursday, Sherpao said that Saudi Arabia and Pakistan had historic brotherly relations and asked the Saudi authorities to take the factor into account and be lenient with Pakistanis working there.


He has also asked the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Foreign Office to take up the issue with the Saudi government.


He said that Pakistani particularly those from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were very hard working people and had contributed a lot to the development of Saudi Arabia.


The exodus of Pakistanis from Saudi Arabia will hit hard the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as an estimated two million people from the province are working in different parts of Saudi Arabia.


Sherpao also stressed the government of Pakistan to extend all possible help to Pakistani workers, and to ensure their safe and honourable return, Pakistan embassy and consulates should issue emergency exit certificates to those who did not have valid travel documents.
