LHC orders not to take entry free at Benazir airport

Summary DG Civil Aviation, Chairman NAB, Manager Logistic Park and Lessee have been made parties.


LAHORE (Dunya News):-The Lahore High Court Rawalpindi bench on Thursday has ordered the Civil Aviation Authority to stop receiving entry fee from passengers at Benazir International Airport.


The petition had been moved by Advocate Raja Saimul Haque Sati who made Director General Civil Aviation, Chairman NAB, Manager Logistic Park, Chairman Competition Commission and Lessee as parties.


According to the petition, not a sing airport receives entry fee from passengers but the staff of Benazir Airport receives entry fee both from passengers and their relatives. It is absolutely illegal in the sight of rules and regulations.


On the other hand, Civil Aviation Authority was of the view that ministry of defence had allowed it to receive entry fee while the counsel on the part of defence ministry refused to accept the stance of Civil Aviation.


After preliminary discussion, the court ordered the DG Civil Aviation Authority to stop receiving entry fee from passengers.
