Summary Nawaz says people will see in the first 100 days that govt is moving in the right direction.
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Addressing the gathering of the newly elected MPs here on Monday, PML-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif said people of Pakistan had displayed maturity and political wisdom in the Elections 2013 by rejecting the emotional appeals and voting for serious minded leadership.
Congratulating the newly elected members of parliament, Nawaz said people of Pakistan had put their trust in them and it was their duty to serve people.
“We won with huge margins and lost with narrow margins,” he said. He said he was happy that previous parliament had completed its tenure; adding the tradition to overthrow governments through agitations must now come to end now.
“Civilized nations follow the constitutional means for change and I am proud that in Pakistan transfer of power took place in a peaceful and democratic way,” he said, adding this process should continue.
About the election campaign he said PML-N did not resort to any negative campaigning and gave only positive message to the masses for change.
He said PML-N could form government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with the help of other parties but PML-N refused to do so respecting the mandate of PTI.
Similarly, he said PPP and MQM had right to form government in Sindh.
He said PPP and MQM should now work to bring peace in Karachi and end bloodshed, adding federal government would offer every possible support to Sindh government if it makes any effort to bring rule of law in Sindh.
“PML-N has majority to form government in the Centre but I would like that all parties should join hands to overcome the problems of Pakistan.”
He said the first priority of his government would be to solve the problem of loadshedding as soon as possible. “Our government would be focused on problems of security and energy,” he said.
He urged the leaders and workers of PML-N to devote their time for the welfare of masses because people of Pakistan had great expectations from them.
“You have seen the end of those who lost contact with the masses while in government,” he said.
He urged his rivals to rise above narrow political objectives and work for the stability and progress of the country.
Nawaz said he respected the mandate of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sind, adding federal government would serve the people of Pakistan with any discrimination.
Nawaz said the offer of peace talks by the Taliban must be taken seriously.
