Summary Says masses rejected Pakistan People's Party in elections over loadshedding and inflation.

 

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Governor Punjab Syed Makhdoom Ahmad Mahmood has accepted the fact that masses vented their anger on PPP over issues like loadshedding and inflation.


Accepting PPP’s defeat in elections, he announced his resignation in a press conference at the Governor’s House.


“I have sent my resignation to President Asif Ali Zardari” he said.


He also announced that he would no more take part in parliamentary politics but would continue to serve PPP as a loyalist.


Congratulating Mian Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan for victory of their parties in polls, he wished that new governments bring country out of crises.


He also congratulated the entire nation, Election Commission of Pakistan, Pakistan Army and other security institutions for holding free, fair and transparent elections.


He especially paid tributes to President Zardari for doing his duty of democratic transition of power.


Referring to the recent defeat of PPP, he said that no ruling party had ever regained power.


To a question regarding the poll-rigging, he said there was no major incident of rigging.


He also congratulated PTI for emerging as a major political force, giving serious challenge traditional parties.
