Summary Movement of Afghan refugees living in Pakistan would be restricted on 11th of this month.
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Caretaker Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Arif Nizami said borders of the country will be sealed on polling day to prevent any infiltration.
Talking to media here on Tuesday, Arif Nizami said movement of Afghan refugees living in Pakistan would be restricted and instructions have already been issued to them in this regard.
He said security would be increased manifolds two days ahead of elections and complete cooperation would be extended to the provincial governments in maintaining law and order.
The Interior Ministry is also taking necessary measures to beef up security and real time intelligence is being shared by the intelligence agencies through the ministry.
He said apart from deployment of police and rangers‚ quick response force of the army would be on standby to respond to any situation. Fifty helicopters would also carry out aerial surveillance.
He said nine security personnel would be deployed at high sensitive polling stations‚ seven at sensitive stations and five at other stations.
The minister maintained CNG stations would remain open on the polling day while there would be no electricity load-shedding 36 hours before and after the polling day.
He said foreign observers are taking keen interest in monitoring elections. Visas to 158 foreign observers have already been issued and more would be issued in coming days.
Arif Nizami stated a special briefing to the federal cabinet would be given on security arrangements for elections during the next few days. The minister said the government will fully facilitate national and international media to cover elections and be able to work in accordance with their professional ethos.
He said all segments of the society and institutions in the country are committed to the continuation of democratic process in the country.
