Summary The law enforcement agencies have failed to restore peace in the city.
KARACHI (Dunya News) - Life in the city came to a virtual standstill on Sunday, with most public transport vehicles remaining off the roads and businesses remaining shut in the wake of a call for a `day of mourning` after blasts hit MQM office and PPP rally.
Major business centres and markets remained closed as traders observed the day of mourning. A large number of petrol pumps were also shut.
The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) appealed to observe day of mourning in Sindh as bomb blasts at MQM office in Orangi Town and PPP corner meeting in Lyari left six people dead and over 65 others hurt on Saturday.
Similar bomb attacks earlier this week targeted an election camp and an office of MQM, killing several people and injuring dozens others. The proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) had claimed responsibility of the attacks.
A bomb explosion on Friday attacked representatives of Awami National Party (ANP) near its office in Mominabad area of Korangi in which 11 people were killed and over 40 others hurt.
