Summary Interior minister says he is well-aware of life threats to political leaders in forthcoming polls.
A top level meeting attended by Federal Ministers and senior Election Commission officials was held in Islamabad on Monday to review the security situation the country.
The meeting was attended by Information Minister Arif Nizami‚ Interior Minister Malik Muhammad Habib and Law Minister Ahmer Bilal Sufi and Secretary Election Commission Ishtiak Ahmed Khan and other senior officials.
Talking to newsmen, Interior Minister Malik Habib said security plan for upcoming general elections has been finalised.
He said he is well-aware of the life threats to political leaders and former President Pervez Musharraf.
Interior Minister said soon he will visit Karachi‚ Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab where after consultation with stakeholders‚ their concerns will be removed.
On this occasion‚ Information Minister Arif Nizami said significant decisions have been made in the meeting.
He said a consultative meeting of all the stakeholders will be held on Thursday.
Law Minister Ahmer Bilal Sufi said the meeting also discussed the arrangements to facilitate Overseas Pakistanis to cast their vote. He said NADRA and other institutions are being consulted on it.
Responding to a question‚ he said caretaker setup is bound to take care of daily routines matters and it is pre-occupied with a lot of issues therefore‚ it will not be able to take up Article-6 against Pervez Musharraf.
Secretary Election Commission on the occasion said all resources are being utilized for ensuring peace to hold fair and free elections.
