KARACHI (Dunya News) – In a telephonic address at the Lal Qila Ground, Azizabad from London, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain on Saturday announced names of 671 candidates for the upcoming general elections.
The MQM will contest election on 21 NA and 45 provincial assembly seats from Khyber Paktunkhwa, In Balochistan, the MQM will contest polls on seven national and 21 provincial assembly seats while from Punjab, the party will contest polls on 132 national and 256 provincial assembly seats.
The MQM will contest polls on 41 national and 86 provincial assembly seats from Sindh. Altaf Hussain said the MQM will form next government in Sindh. Muttahida is contesting polls on 20 national and 41 provincial assembly seats from Karachi.
During his address, Altaf Hussain appealed to Taliban to lay down arms and become a part of the mainstream national politics.
He added political workers and activists of the MQM are being targeted and assassinated in order to halt the caravan of liberal party.
“If rival forces want to face the MQM, they should use their democratic right rather than targeting its workers”, said Altaf.
He said that political parties should recognize each other’s mandate.
