ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has written a letter to the caretaker prime minister requesting for appropriate action against Interior Minister Habib Khan for making a controversial statement disclosing his likes for a political leader.
According to sources, Secretary ECP Ishtiaq Ahmed has written a letter to the caretaker Prime Minister, telling him that such statements could compromise the transparency of the upcoming polls.
The letter asked the Prime Minister to ensure impartiality of the ministers.
In an interview, Interior Minister Habib Khan had said that Nawaz Sharif was the only genuine national leader in Pakistan and that he always voted for him and would do so in future too.
Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf (PTI), the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), the PML-Q and the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) had demanded the resignation of the caretaker interior minister over his pro-Sharif statement.
