ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Hearing the case pertaining to the missing prisoners of Adiala jail, the Supreme Court said that it cannot formulate any political policy.

 

A three-member bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, resumed hearing of the missing prisoners of Adiala jail on Monday.

 

During the course of proceedings, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed remarked that the court cannot formulate any political policy, adding that the institution can only issue directives in the light of the law.

 

The counsel for intelligence agencies, Raja Irshad, said that the duty of agencies ended after the shifting of prisoners from detention centre.

 

The petitioner’s lawyer Ghulam Nabi objected to the approach incorporated to resolve issues in FATA and PATA.

 

Issuing notice to attorney general, the court directed Irfan Qadir to present his arguments during next hearing.

 

The hearing has been adjourned till Wednesday.
