Summary The deadline for filing nomination papers for the upcoming general election expires today.

 

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The nomination papers for the upcoming general elections will be received till 4:00pm today (Sunday). Around 7,000 nominations are likely to be filed today.

 

According to details, former Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif has filed nomination papers from NA 54-Texila and PP-247-Rajanpur.

 

PTI chief Imrn khan has filed nomination papers from NA 126-Lahore while another PTI leader Shafqat Mahmood has submitted nomination papers from NA-125, NA-126 and NA-127 from Lahore.

 

PPP’s Bushra Aitzaz has filed nomination papers from NA-124 and Aurangzeb Barqi has filed nomination papers from NA-121.

 

PML-N leader Ch Nisar has filed nomination papers from PP-7-Texila while PML-N’s Umar Farooq has submitted papers from PP-8-Texila.

 

PTI’s Shah Mahmood Qureshi has filed nomination papers from NA 150-Multan while PPP’s Musa Gilani, son of Yousuf Raza Gilani, has submitted nomination papers from NA-148. PPP’s Saif-ud-Din Khosa has filed nomination papers from NA-173-DG Khan.

 

In Karachi, more that 150 candidates have submitted their nomination papers. Dr Fauzia Siddiqui has submitted nomination papers from NA-250 as an independent candidate. She will contest election against former president Gen Pervez Musharraf.

 

In Peshawar, 150 candidates have submitted nomination papers from national and provincial assembly seats. It is pertinent to mention here that at least 43 candidates have filed nomination papers from NA-40 in North Waziristan.

 

Hafiz Hussain Ahmad has submitted nomination papers from NA-260-Quetta,

 

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has so far received around 3,261 nomination papers for the upcoming general election from across the country. The commission has already cleared some 1,108 nomination papers after due verification.
