Khurshid, Dar discuss election date, caretaker setup

Summary PPP and PML-N leaders on Tuesday discussed the matters regarding caretaker setup.

 

ISLAMABAD (Online): Pakistan People Party has suggested May 9 as the election date to the opposition and has also proposed withdrawing the previous nominated names for caretaker PM and fielding new ones.

 

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPPP) leader Syed Khurshid Shah and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Senator Ishaq Dar on Tuesday held a meeting in Islamabad and discussed matters pertaining to the caretaker set up in the Centre and Punjab.

 

Sources said Shah and Dar discussed the dissolution of Punjab Assembly and names for the slot of caretaker PM and Chief Minister in Punjab. PPP leader reportedly told the opposition member that the government is willing to show flexibility on the caretaker PM to end the dead lock.

 

They hoped that issues will be resolved amicably after PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif returns home from abroad.

 

The ruling quarters have taken the Opposition into confidence over the holding of general election on May 9, and consultation is underway in this regard, sources said.

 

Ishaq Dar also reportedly assured the PPP leader that there would be no problem regarding the dissolution of Punjab Assembly

 

Talking to newsmen after their meeting‚ the PPP and PML-N leader dismissed the impression about any deadlock between the government and the opposition in this regard.

 

They hoped that issues will be resolved amicably after PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif returns home from abroad.
