ECP allots election symbols, arrow to be decided on Mar 25

Summary The decision about the allotment of symbol of 'arrow' will be taken on March 25th.

 

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - A meeting of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) held in Islamabad today to allot election symbols to the political parties.

 

The Commission asked all 136 political parties which have applied for Election Symbols to send their representatives for allotment of election symbols.

 

The Commission has also invited those parties which have applied for ‘Pakistan People s Party  as its party name.

 

Naheed Khan has applied for registering a new party with the name of "Pakistan People s Party" while Ghinwa Bhutto has applied for changing its party s name from People s Party (Shaheed Bhutto) to "Pakistan People s Party".

 

Meanwhile, symbol of Lion has been allotted to PML-N‚ Bicycle PML-Q ‚ Scale Jamaat-e-Islami‚ Lantern Awami National Party‚ Kite MQM‚ Flower Pakistan Muslim League-F‚ Wheel Jamhoori Watan Party‚ Missile Tehrik-e-Tahafuz Pakistan‚ and Book has been allotted to JUI-F.

 

The commission allotted the symbol of  Bat  to Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf‚  Tree  to PMAP‚  Inkpot with pen  to Pakistan Awami Muslim League and  Camel  to Balochistan National Party.

 

The decision about the allotment of symbol of arrow will be taken on the 25th of this month at a meeting of the Election Commission.

 

Talking to media outside the Election Commission PPP leader Syed Samsam Bukhari hoped that the symbol of  arrow  would be allotted to the PPPP.

 

He said the party contested the previous elections in 2002 and 2008 with the symbol of arrow and thus it is its right to get this symbol for the elections 2013.
