Summary National Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has increased power tariff up by Rs 1.55 per unit.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The power distribution companies had filed application with NEPRA seeking enhancement in power tariff.
The companies had taken the plea through this application that power was generated through the mode of diesel at the rate of Rs 21 per unit during the month of January, Rs 16 per unit through furnace oil and Rs 5 per unit through gas. This way a sum of Rs 63 billion were incurred on power generation in January,.
The cost of line losses at the rate of paisas 27 per unit and the amount of bonus disbursed among the employees of the companies have also been made part of the tariff.
The NEPRA heard the petition and approved raise to the tune of Rs 1.55 per unit in the power tariff. The increase has been approved in fuel adjustment surcharges for the month of January.
The domestic consumers consuming electricity upto 50 units and KESC consumers will remain exempted from this upward revised tariff.
