Summary About 126 district returning officers have been appointed for scrutiny of nomination papers.

 

ISLAMABAD (Online): Government has appointed 126 district returning officers to receive and scrutinize nomination papers in connection with general election on 272 seats of national assembly and 577 seats of provincial assemblies in the country.

 

Two returning officers and four assistant retuning officers have been appointed in respect of two seats of National Assembly in federal capital.

 

According to sources, general elections are likely to be held on May 8 or 9 and proposal has been sent to the government in this regard. The final decision would be taken by President Asif Ali Zardari.

 

According to Election Commission the total number of registered voters in the country stands at over 85 million.

 

Total number of registered male voters is 48‚259‚221 female voters are 37‚162‚760.

 

Total number of votes in Punjab is 48‚838‚040‚ Sindh 18‚663‚657‚ KPK 12‚247‚940‚ Balochistan 3‚337‚001‚ Federal Area 609‚517‚ and FATA 1‚725‚826.

 

The ECP says number of male voters is over 48 million while the female voters stand at over 37 million in the country.
