ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Commission on the Inquiry of Enforced Disappearances (CIED) has recommended the government to take action against the former officials of intelligence agencies in its latest report.
The judicial commission, headed by justice (retired) Javed Iqbal, has finalized a 204-page report that will soon be presented to the federal government.
In its report, the commission stated that a total of 621 persons went missing while 359 persons have been recovered so far.
The commission highlighted abduction for ransom and domestic violence as some of the major reasons of such cases.
Out of 18, 16 persons in Islamabad, 130 out of 280 in Punjab , 24 out of 124 in Sindh , 123 out of 398 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 59 out of 107 in Balochistan while 12 and 9 people have been recovered from FATA and Azad Kashmir so far.
The report stated that the recovered persons were not sharing complete information due to fear, adding that some of them belonged to extremist groups.
The commission also recommended to take indiscriminate action against civil servants.
