KARACHI (Dunya News) - Train March of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) along with other opposition parties to empower the ‘Election Commission’ was kicked off from Karachi on Sunday.
Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Sindh Dr Mairaj-ul-Huda Siddiqui, Ameer JI Karachi Muhammad Hussain Mahenti, naib ameers Barjees Ahmed, Raja Sultan Arif, General Secretary JI Karachi Naseem Siddiqui, JI Information Secretary Zahid Askari, Dr Sidiq Rathore of JUP, Irfanullah Marwat of PML-N, Mufti Usman Yar of JUI-S, Mehfooz Yar Khan of AML, Maulana Muhammad Ghayyas of JUI-F, Zia Abbas of NPP, Mustaqeem Noorani of JUP, Basharat Mirza of PDP and others were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, JI leader Meraj Ul Huda said that the purpose of taking out the march was to ensure free and transparent elections by Election Commission of Pakistan and implement the verdict of Supreme Court in its true spirit.
“All political and religious parties are taking part in the Train March to safe the country from terrorists and terrorism”, Dr Mairaj said.
He reiterated that the leaders and workers of opposition parties will march towards Election Commission Office in Islamabad in order to carry out pre-poll rigging in form of voters’ verification in Karachi in the absence of army personnel.
“We need rectification in electoral rolls and will carry out the struggle against pre-poll rigging before holding of general elections”, he added.
The Train March against irregularities in electoral rolls will end on March 6 in Rawalpindi, the participants would march towards Election Commission office in Islamabad to submit memorandum.
